Save The Road! is a grass-roots effort dedicated to saving Davis Road [formerly known as CR 100S] and Meridian Road in Greenfield and Hancock County Indiana. Eli Lilly has voiced intent to close nearly 4 miles of these roads. A public hearing was held on the matter on June 3, 2003 and the County Commissioners approved the measure on June 9, 2003.

We are currently pursuing means to keep these roads in the hands of the tax payers who rightfully own their destiny. Several logistical pre-trial meetings have been held since December 11, 2003. And the judge has set the trial date for October. Having now proven themselves a liability to the Republican party status quo, the rueful and rude County Commissioner incumbents successfully braved the primary elections gauntlet and came out swinging, apparently ready for more come November. In the News

  • Lilly's lost values
Not only are jobs vanishing at Lilly, it now appears their values are too. In a close examination of Lilly's new web site, it appears the values to which they once ascribed no longer exist. 04/05/2004

  • Lilly Greenfield jobs vanishing
In an unprecedented analysis of Lilly's employment reports spanning over 14 years of proclamations, we've learned that trends are hard to break. Nearly a year later, with the most recent reports, we look once again at the touted employment figures for Lilly's Greenfield Laboratories. You can do the math - it's not fuzzy logic... 04/02/04

  • Lawyer's Paradise
Well now, looks like the Commissioner have their hands so full of litigation that their having to make special executive sessions [read: closed door] just to keep up with it all. At least Lilly's covering for the County on the road case. As for the threatened legal action, we swear it wasn't us this time...As listed in the DR govt. calendar of 3.27.04: 10 a.m. - Hancock County Commissioners, executive session to discuss initiation of litigation or litigation that is either pending or has been threatened specifically in writing, Commissioners' Courtroom, County Courthouse.

  • Great turnout at Plan meeting
The Comprehensive Plan meeting on 3-3-04 was filled with residents concerned about The Roads. Evidently, The Roads are an important subject among community members even though they were cut-off and disallowed from speaking about infrastructure improvements at the meeting. A special thanks is extended for their valiant efforts. 04/03/04

  • Plan should address jobs creation, traffic, residents say

  • Hancock County's mega-portal brings doom?
Beyond the initial interest in seeing the GIS site we were surprised to see the County release such detailed land records [including a highly detailed mapping system] on their new site. Now, after 9-11, with international terrorists apparently lurking around every corner these days, why haven't we heard a peep from Lilly? As professional benefactors of the fears in anything "unhealthy", they've sure blown their opportunity to thump their land-baron drums to the beat of Hancock County's impending doom from the glut of freely available information. Sheesh! Who needs roads wheen there's the Internet?! 01/21/04

  • Look ma'...I'm on the Internet!
With an economy moping along and jobs still difficult to find, we're not the only ones working on our sites. Hancock County recently unwrapped their new Internet site, Greenfield just launched their new portal and Lilly has redone their site as well...Looks like a redesign of this site may be in order. Beyond a doubt though, our hats go off to TheNetEffect.orgfor their timely, cutting-edge mega-portal connecting constituents AND candidates working to better local government through active participation. 01/21/04
